At press time, the satellite was working its way toward the 101-degree high-power DBS orbital slot, where it will take over for DirecTv’s DBS-1 satellite. CUSTOMERS KEEP FLOCKING TO DBS The sales momentum EchoStar Communications Corp. and DirecTv Inc. built up over the summer shows no signs of fizzling out heading into the fall selling season as both companies continued to set subscriber addition records in September. HOUSE PONDERS SENATE OFFER WASHINGTON—As congressional staffers continued to hash out satellite TV legislation this month, DirecTv Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. put their differing views aside to portray a united satellite TV industry pushing for its version of “pro-competitive” legislation. At the same time, a bevy of other interested parties papered Capitol Hill with letters weighing in on the matter.
